Almost Ready for Beta

Wooji Juice’s new synth, Mitosynth, is almost ready for beta. It’s “feature complete”, and while there’s plenty to do yet – writing the manual, polishing the UI, adding patches to the library, that kind of thing – everything I want to see in v1.0 is done.

So, it’s time to put out a call for beta testers! If you’re interested in beta testing Mitosynth, there’s some things to bear in mind:

• Mitosynth requires iOS 7 or later, so you’ll need an iPad, iPad Mini, iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 7.x installed. I think by now everyone who might be interested in testing has already upgraded, but it’s worth mentioning

• Apple only gives developers 100 beta testing slots per year. Each device takes up one slot. These slots have to be shared amongst all the developer’s apps. This means beta testing slots are valuable.

• So, please, don’t apply unless you’re interested in genuinely testing the app and sending feedback. People who just want bragging rights, or like to get “free stuff”, are taking up a slot that could be used by someone else. And I’ll be able to tell. And may kick them off the program. And not invite them to future beta tests.

• On the other hand, if you’re interested in trying out a thoroughly cool new synth, and are also prepared to take notes while you do, and send them in, please, sign up! And anybody who’s sent feedback in the past, goes to the front of the line :)

How to Sign Up

There are two steps to signing up:

• Sign up for the beta test via TestFlight.

• Send an email with your name, whether you’ve used Sylo Synth or not, whether you’ve used Grain Science or not1, a list of the devices you have with iOS 7 installed on them, and if you have more than one device, note which one you use most often. Note: skip this step and you won’t get on the beta test!

Remember, each device takes up a slot in the testing program, not just each person. So if you have more than one device, chances are, not all of them will get registered. Hopefully, your “preferred” device will be added, but devices will also be chosen to try and get testing on a variety of different models.

Also, if you’ve already signed up for a beta test in the past, please ensure your devices are up-to-date in TestFlight, and of course, send the email with the details I mentioned before.
